ITI Biennial Research Symposium – 2015


Science, Technology and Innovation for a knowledge based Economy

Inauguration ceremony Biennial Research Symposium of ITI was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall on 16th November 2015. This biennial research symposium was organized to share and disseminate the knowledge gained through research carried out by ITI scientists. The Honourable Minister of Science, Technology and Research Mr. Susil Premajayantha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Chairman, ITI Mr. Niroshana Perera welcome the distinguish guest, invitees and the researchers and Director General ITI, Dr. G.A.S. Premakumara explained the role of ITI and the importance of the symposium. Key note address was delivered by Mr. W.A. Wijewardena – former Deputy Governer of Central Bank of Sri Lanka. In his keynote address Mr Wijewardena emphasis the theme of the symposium “Science, Technology and Innovations for a knowledge based Economy”.

Outstanding performances of ITI researches were appreciated during the award ceremony.

The Technical Sessions were held on 17th November at the ITI Main Auditorium and S.F. Laurentius Auditorium where more than 35 research papers werepresented. The Plenary Lectures by Prof. L. M. V. Tilekeratne, Professor, Department of Medicinal and Biological Chemistry, College of Pharmacy andPharmaceutical Sciences, University of Toledo, USA and Dr. Mahesh Jayaweera, Senior Lecturer Department of Civil Engineering, Univercity of Moratuwa,were delivered during the technical sessions.
