Technology Transfer on Bio wax and Tree fresh Formulation (TFF)

Pre and post harvest loss of fruits are a major issue faced by farmers in Sri Lanka. A considerable potion of their produce goes waste due to over ripening and during transportation. Research conducted by a multi-disciplinary research team at the ITI over a period of 6 years with the financial assistance fromGlobal Affairs Canada and the IDRC, CIFSRF programme resulted in the development of a Tree Fresh Formulation to retain fruits on trees so as to extend the harvest season of Mango and lime. The team also developed an ITI Bio wax formulation to extend the Storage/shelf life of Mango and Papaya and preventing spoilage caused by microorganisms. Further to collaborativepilot scale and semi commercial trials, these product technologies were transferred to Hayley’s Agriculture Pvt. Ltd.
